Newborn babies are tiny and so difficult to keep warm, and it’s winter! Until babies are 12 months old they can’t fully self-regulate their own temperatures – they are unable to shiver and have limited sweat glands – so you must keep them warm. The problem is that babies don’t have the same priorities as you do; they move around and squirm and throw off the blankets! So how can you keep them warm this winter?
When choosing a cot and looking at costs, it’s not unusual for parents to think, ‘How long will my baby really need this cot for? A year, two years? And what then – will I need to buy a child’s bed, and then an adult bed when they get big enough?’ Parenthood is an expensive journey, with the average family spending £10,261 in the first year of a child’s life alone, according to insurer LV. Some parents dread buying the most expensive items of necessary baby items such as prams and cots.

Some pregnant women love having their photos taken, documenting each new stage in their baby’s development with a bump shot that they share with their friends on Facebook and Twitter. The pregnant body has been praised and worshipped using sculpture and imagery throughout the ages, from Raphael’s ‘Portrait of a Pregnant Woman’ to the Damien Hirst’s recent controversial ‘Verity’ statue. However, not everyone wants to see their bump immortalised.
